Biography
Vinayak Venkataraman, MD
Vinayak is a medical oncologist with expertise in caring for patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. He is also an internist and pediatrician with expertise in supporting the physical, emotional, and socioeconomic needs of adolescent and young adults (age 15-39 years old) facing cancer.
His passion is to improve access, care, and outcomes for sarcoma and AYA survivors by developing innovative, tech-enabled, care delivery programs that proactively address their unmet needs over time. He has particular interest in the role of exercise and movement in cancer care and is leading efforts to build a personalized exercise and coaching program focused on the unique health needs of sarcoma survivors.
Vinayak holds leadership positions in several national organizations focused on advocating for AYAs and sarcoma survivors. He is also a published essayist with pieces in JAMA, STAT News, and other outlets, with passion for creative and reflective writing in medicine.
He was born and raised in Rochester, NY, obtained a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, received an MD from Duke University School of Medicine, completed combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital, and completed Medical Oncology fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham & Women's Hospital.
